While the minimum wage in the State of California and other cities raised on January 1, 2023, certain cities – including the City of Los Angeles – will do so again on July 1st 2023.

The City of Los Angeles Office of Wage Standards announced the upcoming hike for July 1, 2023, on February 1, 2023. The minimum wage for the City of Los Angeles will rise by $0.74 to $16.78 per hour based on the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPA-W) for the Los Angeles metropolitan area.

Employees who do at least two hours of work for their employer inside the borders of Los Angeles in any given week and who are qualified to receive payment of the minimum wage under California law are covered by the minimum wage ordinance for the City of Los Angeles.
